Framing
What has to be in the frame
Three things make an entry readable. Everything else can go.
The service name, the amount and the billing cycle or next date. With those three, a line can be listed and totalled correctly. Without the amount, it is a name with no value; without the cycle, the yearly figure is a guess.
What to leave out
Balances, account numbers, card digits, anything belonging to another person. Crop before uploading, not after — the image is read as it arrives.
When one image is not enough
If the list scrolls, capture it in two or three overlapping images rather than one zoomed-out screen where the text stops being legible. Reading fails on small text in the same way a person would.
What comes out of it
- Lists every recurring charge it finds, with the service, price and billing cycle
- Adds up what the list costs you per month and per year
